September 1, 2021

Dear Members of Central Berkshire Chapter – League of Women Voters!

We have had a meeting of the Board (via zoom) to take a good look at the Fall season. Our projects and plans fell right into place. This is to update you on our progress and hope that you might be interested, in one way or another, to join us in one capacity or another. To learn more, READ ON! To contact us see our emails below.

We plan:

-to resume voter registration tables advance of the Pittsfield city council elections November 2nd. We will organize the materials we need and who will be available to help out. It should be great fun!

The Common in Pittsfield:  Saturdays: Sept 25, Oct 2, Oct 9 and Oct 16

-to create a web page for each of the Pittsfield City Council candidates using the  LWV website www.Vote411.org.  There will be 3 questions for each candidate that is being decided now. LWV-MA will assist us with posting. We need help collecting the data.

-to continue the constructive collaborations with other active non partisan groups around shared interests:

NAACP – will host a Pittsfield City Council candidate forum

Multicultural Bridge – will train 2 CBC members in a DEI trainer program- interested?

Mass Voter Table – a resource to contact voters by township, etc.

Berkshire School Superintendents – consider voting info materials to post on their website

Berkshire Eagle is considering a Civics Education column

-to keep members updated on what LWVMA offers:

Legislative Action Alert – which bills are before the Senate and House

which representative is involved and where to write to them. Subscribe if you do not receive this.

LWV seminars are regularly offered to members to stay informed and be involved.

A Civics Education Committee is forming this Fall – we will report and update the findings.

-to offer LWV CBC membership informative meetings on line and when feasible, in person,

Ideas? Suggestions? Would you like to help us craft these programs?

-to keep Communications with you up to date!

Volunteers are needed to assist with the LWV CBC website:

https://lwvcentralberkshires.org

to offer suggestions and articles for the newsletter,

to help with outreach to other organizations and find fun photographs!

Just send one of us an email – we want to know if your are interested!

As a small and dedicated group of women and men, we will work to improve information for the voter, protect voter rights and together keep the democracy working!

We look forward to hearing from you!
