What areas do you serve?
When we began this group in 2020, our focus was Pittsfield and its immediate surrounds. That’s why the name of our chapter is Central Berkshire County. Since then, we have grown and shifted south, but we kept the same name. We currently have members living in Dalton, Richmond, Pittsfield, Stockbridge, Egremont, Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington, Housatonic, Becket, Washington, Sheffield, Egremont, and Washington. You do not need to be a full time resident to join us or volunteer with us.
If you live north of Pittsfield, you might consider joining the LWV Williamstown chapter which serves the Northern Berkshires.
Fun fact – there was an active chapter here 1959-2001! The archives are housed at UMass Amherst, head here to read about the work they did and how to learn more.
Our Meetings
When we were meeting in person we met either in Pittsfield or in Stockbridge but since Spring of 2020 have been meeting on Zoom.
Our Government Representatives
We also do advocacy work on state and local issues. Our area is served by Senator Paul Mark and Representatives Smitty Pignatelli, and Tricia Farley-Bouvier.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that this land, and all of the present-day Berkshires, are the homelands of the Mohican people who were forcefully displaced to Wisconsin. These lands continue to be of great significance to the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation.
